Memory Meadows launched

Memory Meadows launched in local parks

Rays

We have launched our first ‘Memory Meadow’ as a long-lasting tribute and way to remember those who love their local park.

A 6-feet tall metal flower sculpture has been installed at Winton Recreation Ground in Bournemouth, and three further flowers will be added in parks across the conurbation in the new year. These forthcoming Memory Meadows will be at Alexandra Park in Poole, Redhill Park in Bournemouth, and Mudeford Wood in Christchurch.

The Memory Meadow installations have been designed to give residents the opportunity to purchase personalised engraved brass plaques which will be attached to one of the flowers.

Plaques come in four different shapes and can be ordered via our website. They will remain on display in the park for five or 15 years (price dependent) for visitors to enjoy, and the more plaques that are added, the more the Memory Meadow grows.

John Hanson, CEO of The Parks Foundation, said: “We’re really excited to launch our Memory Meadows in four of our Green Heart Parks across the local area. These are parks we know well through our work there, and we understand what special places parks can be.

“Whether it’s spending time with family and friends, learning to ride our bike, or walking our dog every day, parks hold many precious memories. We want to offer the people who treasure these places the chance to have a long-lasting tribute they can come back to again and again.

“You could be celebrating a special person, occasion, or pet – each plaque added creates a meadow of happy memories. And what’s more, every purchase supports our charity’s work enhancing local parks for people and wildlife. So, for residents who may be looking for a present with a difference this festive season, a personalised plaque is not only a gift for someone special but for our parks, too.”
